conflict, or appearance of conflict, between
their personal interest and the interest of
the University in dealing with any organization
or individual having, or seeking to have, any
business relationship with the University or
with any organization or individual whose objectives
or interest may be adverse to University interests
Integrity
Temple University is committed to generating
and disseminating knowledge and to protecting
traditional principles of academic freedom.
The University further recognizes the importance
of protecting the lives and rights of all
who are involved in those processes and of
maintaining a relationship of trust within
the broader academic, research and social

requires that each person who engages in or
supervises research or creative work be responsible
for conducting these activities in an ethical

HIPAA
The HIPAA Privacy Rule, implemented on April
14, 2003, outlined specific rules surrounding
clinical research and the collection and use
of Protected Health Information. Temple University
is committed to the respecting patient privacy
in accordance with the privacy regulations
(the "Privacy Rule") promulgated
under the Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Guidelines on Data and Materials Retention (June 2005)
Original data and materials derived from University research are the sole property of the University. They may be required in the event of a misconduct allegation, particularly in connection with research conducted under Federal or other external sponsorship. In addition, original data and materials may be required in the event of a challenge to the validity of a patent based on them.

Research Incentive Policy - F&A Recovery Distribution
The University enacted a Research Incentive Policy that replaces the Overhead Return Policy. The policy provides a total incentive amount equal to 45% of the Facilities and Administration (F&A) costs recovered. The policy applies only to projects receiving full University indirect costs rates. The policy does not apply to projects which lack full overhead. more...
